St Aloysius’ College is an independent Jesuit school for boys located on the north shore of Sydney, New South Wales. Established in 1879, St Aloysius is one of the oldest Catholic boys’ schools in NSW.
Music at the College provides varied and exciting performance opportunities both within the curriculum and as a co-curricular activity. There is a comprehensive band and orchestral program as well as the provision of vocal and instrumental ensembles. Private tuition in music is also available through a large number of tutors who visit the College.
Music performance and instrumental music attracts the largest number of students in the College’s co-curricular program.
In 2013 the College’s Music Department underwent a moderisation and redevelopment. Optimo staff were invited to co-design the music space to ensure that an adequate and adequate space was allocated for the College’s music library, instrument and equipment storage.
The required spaces also needed to be functional enabling loans and returns to be processed efficiently.
As a result, in 2014 a turn-key implementation of Optimo Plus+ was conducted and installation of Optimo integrated solutions was undertaken as part of the major Capital Works Project.
The College now boasts a variety of individual teaching rooms including dedicated percussion teaching room, small ensemble rehearsal rooms and a sound studio. All the College’s music is securely housed in a Performance Music Library and instruments in appropriate storage rooms.
